Other than the two moons and the ever-present light pollution, there is something that could be considered “daylight” in Necropolis. Enter the Tower—a monolithic skyscraper hosting offices to the biggest corporations in the city and some governmental bodies to boot. In short, the Tower is a place of power, but it’s also so much more. It provides the city with daylight.
For around six hours a day, a halo of storms spurns crowns the Tower’s top, showering nearby districts, with warm, blue light. The light is soft and pleasant, inducing sleepiness and mild euphoria in those who witness it. The central district where the Tower is located—Psychameron—has its period of daylight, while the further districts enjoy it to a much lesser extent. The district of Sabatica, untouched by the Tower’s light and obscured by dust clouds, is known as the land of darkness. When imagining Sabatica I was inspired by my friends who, desperately wanting to get out of their parents’ homes, settled for one-room apartments in shady neighborhoods. Who knows what horrors may roam wherein?
